SIDEWALK REPAIRS

Sidewalks are private property and are the responsibility of the home owner. When a sidewalk is in need of repairs, and is dangerous, the County Inspector will inspect and issue the homeowner with a Repair Order.

If you have a water or gas meter, it is no charge. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to hire a contractor or use the county crew to make the needed repairs. The costs can be taken from the homeowners taxes over an extended period of time.

Costs for a 4' by 4' square has a ballpark estimate of $104.00. The firm price is $6.50 per square foot. Remember, squares that have meters are free.

According to the official we spoke with, the costs are so minimal that the homeowner won't even notice it. Since times are difficult now, sidewalks are not a top priority. If you have additional concerns about your sidewalk please contact the Baltimore County Department of Public Works at 410.887.3932.
